What I do
I provide graphic and web design knowledge and experience that make your business visually engaging and appropriate.
My design background
With robust skills across contemporary and traditional design, I know Adobe creative suite: Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign like the back
of my hand, and am well-versed in Apple Macintosh operating systems. I also have strong experience in art direction and picture research,
from simple product shoots in studios, to multi-day oversea trips.
I also have a particular passion for
illustration, custom typography and letter-cutting. I blend all these influences into my work, offering a very diverse backgound of experience.
On-line I also create html and css, for websites or email newsletters, customise Wordpress sites, build an app, or code a Flash website, banner or game.
My skills
Good design is more than just visuals – it’s client and designer working together. Relationships and clear communication count.
Experience and clients
My track record in design spans more than a decade. Following a BA Hons in Graphic Art & Design, I built up a solid track
record in design by working for IPC Media, Hotcourses and Panini UK,
where I produced high-quality design work for titles including Doctor Who Magazine, bliss and mizz.
In 2008, I set up my own graphic design studio in a converted pig sty in Groombridge, near Tunbridge Wells, Kent.
Since then, I’ve established a dynamic portfolio of clients including
The Rare Breed Pig Company, CentralBikes and
Kent & Sussex Climbing.
I also work in partnership with several local creative agencies, and continue to freelance with London based publishers.
I really enjoy the variety of my work and the fresh challenges it produces.

About jim design
My work is influenced by visual culture, print media and online media, but much of my design inspiration comes from the outdoors
– from the sights and sounds I experience when I’m out on my bike.
My keen interest in the environment doesn’t stop at the great outdoors:
I’m firmly committed to using ethical sources of paper for my work and to using my bike or public transport to get to meetings.
I'm an avid cyclist, in all forms, mountain-biking remaining my favourite.
