hello! I'm Jim Clarkson

Graphic designer, web designer & illustrator. I'm based near Tunbridge Wells, Kent.

I’ve been freelancing at my studio for just over 5 years and been a designer for over 10 years.
I create print and web design solutions from my graphic design studio near Tunbridge Wells in Kent.

I’ve worked across a varied spectrum of projects and for differing companies – always aiming to run my own studio and be able to solve client’s design and web requirements.

Skilled in providing logo design, branding and identity.

I design print work, logos, identities, illustrations and websites that are appropriate, useful and practical. With robust skills across contemporary and traditional design, I'm happy creating custom typefaces in Illustrator or coding up some html/css in Coda. I also have a particular passion for illustration, graphic art, custom typography and letter-cutting.

I have a great understanding of related creative areas, including photography, picture research, art direction and copy-writing. All this knowledge gets instilled into all the work I produce – providing you with more skills and value to the work I provide.

My track record in design spans more than a decade. Following a BA Hons in Graphic Art & Design, I built up a solid track record in design by working for IPC Media, Hotcourses and Panini UK, where I produced high-quality design work for titles including Doctor Who Magazine, bliss and mizz.

Freelance graphic design for over 10 years.

In 2009, I set up my own graphic design studio in a converted pig sty in Groombridge, near Tunbridge Wells, Kent. Since then, I’ve established a dynamic portfolio of clients including IPC Media, Turner Cartoon Network Enterprises, The Rare Breed Pig Company, Bowes Fastrac and Kent & Sussex Climbing. I also work in partnership with several local creative agencies. My clients range form small one man companies to international groups and publishers. I enjoy the variety of every project and creating meaningful design solutions, that provide added value and life to a client’s company.

Graphic design influence and inspiration

My work is influenced by visual culture, print media and online media, but much of my design inspiration comes from the outdoors — from the sights and sounds I experience when I’m out on my bike.

I work with a wide array of clients: from large to startup.

My keen interest in the environment doesn’t stop at the great outdoors: I’m firmly committed to using ethical sources of paper for my work and to using my bike or public transport to get to meetings.
